Clean Energy Jobs

Nevada’s vast wind, solar and geothermal potential has given Nevada the opportunity to lead the nation in clean energy jobs. It’s an important goal that will diversify our economy, create thousands of good paying jobs that can’t be shipped overseas, help our nation become less dependent on foreign oil and protect our environment. That’s why Shelley has fought for incentives to help develop the latest renewable technology. She championed a 235-mile long brand new clean energy transmission line linking White Pine and Clark counties that will attract clean energy businesses to Nevada. And she’s been instrumental in protecting the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program, which is helping fund job-creating solar and geothermal projects throughout the state.

Shelley is working to put Nevada on track to become a world leader in solar energy production. Whether it’s building large solar thermal plants or constructing solar panel manufacturing facilities, Shelley has made sure Nevada is forefront in the minds of solar businesses.

The establishment of the National Geothermal Institute at the University of Nevada, Reno has made Nevada the focus of the U.S. geothermal industry, but we can’t stop there. Shelley has supported research to develop the next generation of geothermal technology, while also promoting new projects throughout the state to turn those ideas into jobs for Nevadans.
